Anonymous said... So heterosexual people get to have sexual pleasure simply because it serves another function which is necessary for human creation? Sikhs don't believe in natural law, so dont say that its wrong to use other methods. No one should be allowed anand-karaj as in this modern age sex is not needed for babies, they can take a man's seed and fertilise the egg and without the kaam-based methods[sex].
Sikhism's notion of equality is not that everyone has different rules [caste, menstruation rules] but that everyone can have the same thing. Therefore stop following Hindu concepts such as celibacy and different rules for everyone and recognise that everyone is the same. If a heterosexual women cannot bare children, should she not get married?

Guru Fateh,
Conversation on the Sikh man's blog is more of the same old. We need to take a dialectic approach to sexual behavior including being LGBT. Karma and sin and stuff like that are the biggest illusion (maya) Indians ever invented to justify their fatalistic philosophy.
Human female is the only female sexually receptive even outside the estrous period. Anthropologists believe that it is a part of human evolution. Sex was the incentive for hunter gatherer men to get them to stay close to women and kids for their physical security, and not wander off for weeks at a time in the bush on a hunt. Also along the way human female stopped showing external signs of estrous unlike other primates. It might not be funny if I say, you do not want to see human female with external signs of estrous lik some other primate females (no offense ladies, it’s just my crazy sense of humor). You can call it lust or whatever else but only human species can have sex any time they want, wherever the circumstances are conducive and whenever the urge strikes.
Sex in modern society has become an extension/expression of ones personality and there are distinct gradations of emotional and physical intimacy. Sex can be had just for sex, sex can be exchanged for a favour, sex can be an expression of love at various levels from friendship to a deep down most intimate soul stirring experience shared only with one INDIVIDUAL or just plain old fun. It stopped being only for procreation when human female evolved to be sexually receptive continuously and hide the signs of estrous. If, one considers that all is controlled by God then it would seem that God meant for sex to be a means of not just procreation but means of achieving other objectives also.
Of course human beings with their dirty minds converted it to sin and lust. In its very basic purpose sex is a means of procreation, however, human beings have taken it to a higher level, given it many hues and colors to blur the line between sex for procreation and sex as lust and everything in between, it just depends on an individual’s perspective, in other words it’s all in the mind, and conditioning one gets during childhood. Religions of course by virtue of their nature want to dictate and control every aspect of ones life including sexual behavior. How ever, sexual mores like anything else have evolved and are very different from the time any particular religion might have been conceived. Sex can be a commodity to the most spiritual experience depending on one’s perception. I think sex is just sex to the point that it does not harm any of the individuals involved and does not exploit kids and the disadvantaged, beyond that point one can call it lust, sin vice or whatever else. I am not sure about the relationship between sex and love, is it possible to love someone deeply and not have any physical relationship? I do not know.
There are not, and in the current societies probably can not be, even localized areas with uniform standard of sexual behavior (perhaps there never were any) nor can it be controlled as well as it was in the past, by the society, religion and/or God, welcome to the information and instant gratification age. There is a lot of individuality now even in the Eastern societies and lot less conformity. One has a degree (small degree for now) of freedom to be monogamous, polygamous, polyandrous, gay lesbian or whatever else, divorce is not unheard of any more even in India.
The hostile perceptions toward LGBT sexual behavior are also changing and are bound to change. However, if sane, fully functioning individuals are themselves going to be guilty or defensive about it and do not have a rational attitude, the acceptance will take longer, but it is only a matter of time. Hell and heaven is right here on the planet and humans make it whatever they conceive. If there is karma, sin, punishment, hell, heaven etc. it’s all here and now in this life, and we make it in our minds in other words, sex and different sexual behaviors are not sin, what we think of it can be.
