Hello Sorry if this has come up before
Im a sikh girl who has always been into guys, I am slightly religious (daily prayers and keep my hair) but am exploring my faith- i dont want to lose faith because i am in a relationship with a girl. She is also a sikh but not a practicing one My parents expect me to marry a Sikh man (with a turban ect), but i am in love with a girl I am still attracted to men especially Sikh men, but I am in love with a girl and honestly want to spend my life with her
Would anyone have any advice or stories about coming out to their parents/ keeping their faith while in a same-sex relationship and being part of our sikh community
Thank you

Hi! I am not a Sikh, but a follower of Jesus. It has been my interest in this last year to learn more about the LGBTQ/SSA community and ways of approaching this community while still honoring scripture.
I think it is difficult if you do not have a higher authority that has spoken about sexuality. I think there are a few things that need to be explored/defined in terms of how you view your relationship which will help you be more clear in your intentions.
In the Bible, God has spoken very clearly on human sexuality in the sense of what sex is reserved for. The scriptures clearly say that sex/fidelity is reserved for the covenant between a husband and wife. If you are planning to have sex with this sikh girl, it would be going against what God has spoken plainly about sexuality.
On the other hand, I don't necessarily think that same-sex attraction is inherently wrong, but I do think it's important to know that we live to glorify God and trust Him and not to chase each of our desires. I know that many laws have changed so that homosexual marriages are recognized in different countries and states, but I think it's important for each person to be confident on what their intentions in this life are.
If I am only following my own desires and whatever makes me happy, then I can use scripture to justify my actions and choices, and God would simply become a mere idea that satisfies my cravings in life. I would be rejecting His word which has been spoken clearly for us.
If my words were offensive, I apologize! It is not my intentions to offend. I would love to further the conversation though.

I'm sorry but people these days need to control themselves. I myself used to be bi sexual but I knew it was wrong and I knew it was going agains the will of waheguru as a man and women is needed to have family. I learnt to stop thinking about other girls and I started on focusing on sikhi more. By being a former bi sexual person I was losing my connection to sikhi. Now I try to process in the will of God. Don't go against the will of God and in sggs it says a child needs a mother and father.

Hey All,
LOL Kaur, you need to get out of here! Seeing as you've 'learnt'not to be gay, I spose theres no place for you here, not sorry.
I'm sure others like myself joined to reach out to fellow members of the LGBT Sikh community.
If anyone wants to make friends, message me, let's get our head out our ass and move forward.
Also thinking of starting a group on KIK, would anyone be interested?
